William R. Shelley
Bill has been involved in the consulting engineering business for more than 30 years. Previous experience with a building materials supplier and residential building company adds to his expertise. With experience on a wide variety of projects including commercial, industrial, institutional, office, educational and residential, he is knowledgeable about all conventional building materials in both new construction and renovation projects.

   

Stephen J. Metz
Stephen brings more than a decade of structural engineering experience to SMBH. His prior office and field experience includes material testing, construction inspection and land surveying, which contributes to his knowledge of the design and construction process. Further, his previous experience with a full-service architectural firm provides Stephen with the skills required to produce well coordinated construction documents. He has designed new buildings as well as additions and renovations to existing structures using all conventional building materials for various building types. His experience also includes analysis of existing structures and expert witness testimony.

   

Robert A. Baumann
Bob has been in the consulting business since 1981. He worked his way through college in the co-op program. He gained experience working with a land surveyor as well as positions as a laborer, carpenter and assistant superintendent of construction projects. Bob's knowledge of building a structure enhances his abilities in the design of structures. He has built or designed structures using reinforced, post-tensioned and precast concrete, as well as steel, masonry and wood.

Bob has designed new buildings as well as additions and large renovation projects. He is experienced in investigative work for adaptive reuse of existing structures and has provided field observation during construction of many of the projects that he has designed. He also enjoys the challenges associated with forensic investigations. Bob’s many years of experience allow him to design creative, cost-effective and serviceable structures.
