Creating an open environment that fosters creativity and innovation is one of the hallmarks of SMBH's corporate culture. Unlike many firms, we don't simply assign you a cubicle with a computer; as a matter of fact, we don't even have any cubicles! Our principals, who have decades of experience, take the time to work with you in a true team environment. Team members are actively involved in projects from concept to completion. No project is too challenging. Instead of walking away from complex projects, we tackle them head on and empower our team members to develop creative and innovative design strategies.
Beyond providing rewarding and challenging work, we promote a family-oriented and relaxed environment. Several times throughout the year, we provide our team members and their families with opportunities to attend Columbus Clipper baseball games, Columbus Symphony, and Ballet Met performances, as well as a host of other cultural and social events. Many of our team members are more than just colleagues; they are our friends. Upon joining our firm, very few want to leave. As a matter of fact, two of our principals have never worked at another firm!
We view our team as a family and support each other in our professional endeavors. SMBH will work with you to grow your expertise and foster any specific interests you have. On-going technical training is provided for all team members. We want you to grow and learn so that we can continue to provide the most responsive and innovative design solutions for our clients. If you desire a challenging work environment that provides you with the opportunity to pursue out-of-the-box solutions, SMBH is the place for you.

"SMBH provides a great learning environment for young engineers. All the members of the team are very receptive to questions and everyone is willing to help each other grow as an engineer. Unlike many design firms, we are encouraged to be creative with the design and choose how we want to detail. We are encouraged to find innovative solutions to our clients' challenges while respecting the project's budget and schedule."
