Columbus Main Library celebrates grand opening

Posted on June 16, 2016

On Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 The Columbus Main Library will celebrate its grand opening after a more than $30 million renovation.

While the footprint of the main library remains the same, the interior has far more public space. Removing the stairs, adding walkways and relocating the library staff to a far corner expanded the three-story atrium and created a courtyard effect. Instead of small entrances and hallways leading to rooms housing computers, bookshelves and table displays, two parallel walkways flank the entrance and lead visitors from front to rear, allowing them to literally see through the building. Floor-to-ceiling windows enhance the open feeling.
