Miami University’s Richard T. Farmer School of Business has achieved the LEED-NC Silver Certification from the United States Green Building Council. SMBH was the structural engineer on this project and it is Miami University's first LEED Certified building on campus. (

Carrie Bremer of our team has spent several months working to establish a student chapter of the Structural Engineers Association of Ohio (SEAoO) at The Ohio State University. Jon Beier and Anna Milligan have been active in helping the Ohio University chapter of SEAoO by making presentations and participating in the annual review of the senior design projects. SMBH is proud of the efforts of our team members and their interest in helping shape our industry and our future leaders. Thank you, Carrie, Jon and Anna for all your hard work!
Stephen Metz has been selected to speak at the Structural Engineers Association of Ohio conference in September. His presentation "Renovation of a Historic University Library" will highlight the complete renovation of the existing buildings, partial historic renovation and preservation of the original building and construction of a new five-story addition of the William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library on the campus of the Ohio State University. SMBH is pleased to announce that the renovation of an existing warehouse and distribution facility for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank has been awarded LEED Gold by the Green Building Certification Institute. This is the first major renovation or new construction of a food bank awarded LEED Gold in the nation. SMBH provided structural engineering services on this unique project.

Stephen Metz recently spoke at the "BIM in Columbus: Team Integration" seminar on July 14. Hosted by the Columbus chapter of AIA, the focus highlighted how local practitioners have implemented BIM into their design process.
