Our Work : BIM

Although BIM – Building Information Modeling – has been the hot topic in the construction industry for a few years now, most are still trying to figure out what it means to their projects. In response to our clients' needs, SMBH adopted REVIT as our BIM platform in early 2006. REVIT is the latest technology we use to support our clients, just as we use AutoCAD or even hand-drawings, depending upon the needs of the client or the project.

SMBH was one of the first structural engineering firms in the Greater Columbus market to integrate Autodesk REVIT into our design service offerings. BIM offers many advantages to a project, including streamlined communication, efficient collaboration and access to the information-filled model at any phase of the building life-cycle including design, construction and management.

SMBH has utilized BIM for projects as large as a 350,000-square-foot courthouse or as small as a 5,000-square-foot medical office building. A sampling of our projects utilizing BIM includes:
