Tween Brands Office Headquarters

Specializing in clothing and accessories for young women, Tween Brands was in need of an expanded corporate headquarters to accommodate their growing Justice brand. Tween Brands selected their existing New Albany, Ohio location for their 67,000-square-foot, two story office so the facility could be located beside their corporate headquarters. The expanded space would help streamline efficiencies within the organization and provide room for future growth. The project features cantilevered floors supported by story-deep trusses. Some of the cantilevers measure up to 60 feet long, which created a connection detailing challenge of the structural steel trusses for SMBH. The trusses and floor were detailed to be level once the wet concrete was poured. The monumental stairs have a cantilevered landing that is supported by framing that extends from within a stud wall. There are radiused second floor openings and a connector to the existing building with a bridge over a stream. Communication between SMBH and the architect was critical on this project because the design incorporated extensive exposed steel framing. Geometry often dictated large gusset plates in the steel trusses. Since they were exposed, these plates required communication with the design team to ensure their vision matched reality.
