Our Work : Sustainable Design

SMBH has been on the forefront of the green and sustainable design movement since its inception. While many trends in the design and construction industry can often come and go quickly, it is evident that the sustainable building trend is here to stay. Design and construction professionals continue to see requests for proposals from owners who want elements of sustainable design incorporated into their project. This is true for both large scale projects such as the Franklin County Courthouse and smaller scale projects including a shelter house at the Prairie Oaks Metro Park.

Through our involvement on several sustainable projects, SMBH has found early collaboration to be an extreme benefit to the project. The spirit of collaboration creates an open forum for idea sharing and allows the team to meet the owner's goals in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. As design professionals, our charge should be to work together to integrate sustainable elements early in the design to ensure their maximum benefit is achieved.

In addition to experience on sustainable and LEED certified projects, SMBH also has two team members who are LEED Accredited Professionals. This demonstrates our proficiency in sustainable design and can help your project achieve LEED certification.
