New Albany Country Club Pool & Tennis Addition

Home to a 27-hole championship golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, the New Albany Country Club is well-known for its magnificent setting. Boasting high membership numbers and much activity, the owner decided to expand and renovate the pool and tennis clubhouse. However, it was imperative that the clubhouse remain fully operational during these improvements, which greatly added to the challenge of the project. To begin, SMBH determined that the existing roof would need to be modified to allow the new roof to better adjoin the structure. However, a bay of diagonal bracing, which had not been installed as the original drawing indicated, had to be removed so that the roof could be raised in the new fitness room. SMBH also had to deal with the removal of many existing shear walls. Also included in this expansion was a state-of-the-art golf training center, built to tout the prestige championship golf course. It was constructed as a separate structure and allows members and visitors the capability to hit balls from inside the building onto the driving range.
